Specialists of the Center of Neurosurgery and Neurology of the LVIV CLINICAL EMERGENCY CARE HOSPITAL for the FIRST time performed an intervention using an intraoperative ultrasound machine BK-5000 of the well-known company BK Medical. The result is 4 successful operations.
Doctors have described the VK-5000 as a high-precision and one of the world’s best ultrasound devices that provides visualization of the PREMIUM class in neuro- and general surgery simply during operations. After all, by applying a sensor of such a device to an open area of the brain during surgery, neurosurgeons can clearly see the boundaries of the tumor, assess its volume and location, as well as the degree of elimination by the surgeon.
In particular, neurosurgeons spoke about the operations they managed to perform with the help of BK-5000. He helped them locate a tumor in a 57-year-old man from the Sambir district with a suspected stroke. After the operation, he soon began to recover from previously impaired speech and movement functions.
A tumor in the cervical spine that compressed the spinal cord of a 51-year-old patient from the Rivne region, as well as a neoplasm in the right frontal lobe of a 51-year-old woman from the Ternopil region, were also successfully removed.
And a congenital arteriovenous malformation found in a 52-year-old man – an abnormal plexus of varicose veins and arteries – required powerful imaging. And thanks to BK-5000 surgeons were able to see the location of arteries and blood flow. So the man is already walking on his own.
